JGC Holding Corporation (formerly Japan Gasoline Co.Ltd.) was established on 25 October 1928, in Uchisaiwai-cho, Koji-machi, in Tokyo. In 1930s to 1950s, JGC engineering business became full-scale operation by engaging in contracts to build petroleum refineries and petrochemical plants in Japan. In 1960s, JGC expanded its operation overseas under its remarkable record of domestic project achievements in new petroleum refinery construction in South America, and thereafter expanded into china, Southeast Asia, North Africa and other continents. Since then it has diversified its business into the nuclear power, pharmaceutical, medical facility fields etc.
In 1997, JGC established its Yokohama World Operation Center in the Minato-Mirai district of Yokohama. Today, JGC has developed into a world-leading engineering contractor operated in 6 continents in various countries to meet wide variety of client needs and to create new value for its client.
