KEY HSSE PROGRAMS:BLUESKY

<< BACK

Several HSSE programs have been introduced and implemented at the Blue Sky project.  One of the key programs that is implemented to build strong safety culture at site is the Incident and Injury Free™ (IIF™) with several plans and programs at its framework.

HSE TRAINING and AWARENESS

A wide range of training sessions are carried out which could be in-house training and third-party provided training sessions.  In-house first aid awareness training is also provided to all site personnel.  Upon completion of the required trainings, the site personnel are given certificate of attendance and training stickers which they will stick on their helmets.

Aside from safety induction course which is provided to all site personnel, competency trainings are also provided-an example of this is the Authorized Gas Tester Training (AGT). Since a lot of hot work activities are performed in brown field, in-house practical training for firefighting are provided to firewatch men.

Scaffolding and Working at Height workshop programs were launched and are conducted every Tuesday and Thursday.  This aims to promote awareness on best safety practices when working at height.

Due to a number of incidents which occurred at site concerning dropped objects, the project has presented a dropped object simulation wherein site personnel witnessed tools, steel wedges and scaffolding tubes dropped from a Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP).  This simulation raised the awareness of the workers on the risks of dropped objects.

HEALTH AND WELFARE PROGRAMS

As part of the health management program, a weekly breathalyzer and blood pressure testing are conducted.  In order to keep the work environment clean, site-wide housekeeping is done every Friday.

STARRT COMPETITION

Safety Task Analysis Risk Reduction Talk (STARRT) coaching and competition is done to improve the quality of STARRT.  The coaching and competition are done at the work location with the safety supervisor as the coach, while members of the top management evaluate and determine the winner of the competition.
