IIF Journey of DSLNG Project

IIF Journey of Donggi-Senoro LNG Project

In a situation where 55% of the workforce is made up of local workers without construction work experience, we are engaged in fostering safety activities through an IIF program by promoting the concept among our workers that,”Safety is Your Concern”.

One advantage we have in putting IIF into practice at the DSLNG site is the ease of communication made possible by the use of a single common language. From the beginning of the construction work, it has been possible to harmoniously build mutual understanding and positive relationships through the implementation of IIF activities. Based on the activities of the Unit Leaders made up of JGC and Subcontractor personnel we have managed to build a desirable Mind Set and an attitude of foreseeing risks on the part of the workers which has continued to lead to improved levels of safety awareness.

Also, for the DSLNG project, creating positive relationships with the surrounding community is seen as being of great importance. As the area around the construction site has more than 50 scattered communities, the development of good relationships with them and contributing to the lives of their inhabitants is necessary for the smooth progress of the project. With this fact in mind, we have undertaken to expand the reach of our program in what we call, “IIF Reaching Out”. This involves both lending assistance to those communities through social activities such as traffic safety instruction and skill training, and generating awareness and understanding of the project through site tours. These continuing activities are vital in maintaining a favorable environment for the successful completion of the project.

  • IIF TEAM BUILDING – FEED BACK SESSION

Every 3 months, IIF Team Building sessions take place in which feed-back regarding activities is presented and closer relationships between Management and the Area Unit Leaders (principally Supervisors) are built up.

  • IIF AREA UNIT LEADER– FEED INTERVENTION

Walk downs by Area Unit Leaders are carried out during which safe work practices are praised and unsafe actions are corrected by having the worker(s) involved find a satisfactory solution.

  • IIF AREA UNIT LEADER– FEED BACK SESSION

After the results of the Walk down by the Area Unit Leader are shared and the solutions discussed, the matters related to each type of work are shared by those involved at the TBM (Tool Box Meeting) the following day, or at the STARRT MTG (Safety Task Analysis Risk Reduction Talk Meeting).
