Awareness and Training

JGC is fully aware that to successfully implement the HSE Policy and objectives, it is essential to,

● Educate and train the personnel in all work activities

● Motivate the personnel to ensure constant awareness of the HSE objectives

● Properly engineer the facilities and execute the project activities.

At the corporate level, to encourage employees to give continuous attention to HSE matters, HSE requirements, information, performance, lessons learned, results of incident investigations and root cause analysis are disseminated to all work locations and project sites through intranet communication, training, HSE awareness campaigns, awards for JGC personnel and subcontractors, and newsletters.

At project level, the HSE requirements are communicated to the project personnel through the HSE orientation sessions, the HSE Plan and project specific training. Information, performance and lessons learned related to HSE are included in the Project Monthly Progress Reports.

Introductory HSE training courses are provided for all newly employed personnel. This training covers the basic principles of HSE, the HSE Management program, and the JGC HSE Corporate Policy and Objectives.

HSE training course

Formal training courses are organized for specific HSE tasks in order to increase the competence of the engineers. As part of the Lessons Learned process, ad hoc training sessions are also organized for the presentation of specific HSE problems and issues faced during the execution of a particular project in order to prevent the re-occurrence of such problems.

Personnel who will be assigned to the construction sites will have to participate in Construction HSE Management and Advanced Occupational Health and Safety Courses which are normally organized by external organizations such as RoSPA (The Royal Society for The Prevention of Accidents - UK).

In particular, JGC has organized with the support of Association of "The Royal Society for The Prevention of Accidents" a "Petroleum and Petrochemical Construction Site Safety Course".

The course started in 1995 and since then, over 100 JGC employees have attended the course. This course covers the fundamental aspects of construction safety. It is conducted in English and at the end of the course, all personal who have successfully passed the final examination will receive the "Course Participation Certificate" from the RoSPA Association.
